December 29th, 2008 at 9:59am and 10:00am our beautiful baby girls came crying into this world by c-section. There was only one small knot in their umbilical cords so we were lucky. Emmalee was 5LBS 15OZ and 16.5 inches long and Aubrey was 5LBS 10OZ and 16.5 inches long. They were put on CPAPs after they were born to help them breathe. Emmalee was put on 21% so she was on room air right away and Aubrey was on 33%. She had a little trouble breathing and had some straight oxygen. She has since been put on 21% as well. They are tolerating feeds really well through tubes. They still breathe kind of fast so they can't have bottles or breastfeed yet. They were talking about taking them off of the CPAPs either today or tomorrow. Once their breathing slows down to a normal rate then they are going to try bottle feeding them. If they can suck, swallow, and breathe with the bottle then they should be able to come home.
